Objective to offer free education to professional women through the Cisco Networking Academy to help overcome the employment gap and boost the digital economy

Miami, July 12, 2017 – Education is a basic pillar of Cisco’s social responsibility as a technology leader. With this principle in mind, the company announced today that it will work together with SheWorks!, a platform that uses technology and artificial intelligence to connect professional women with work opportunities through the cloud.

As part of this joint effort, Cisco will be collaborating in the professional development of women through its Networking Academy®. The Cisco Networking Academy® is a skills development program preparing talent for businesses looking to innovate and grow in the digital economy.

The program includes a wide range of ICT courses and curricula combining the development of soft and technical skills to prepare people for jobs in the new economy of the fourth industrial revolution.

The Networking Academy currently boasts an enrollment of over 220,000 students in Latin America, of which 32 percent are women. There are almost 134,000 students in Peru and Panama alone, with a female participation of 45 percent.

Cisco plans to consider the talent pool at SheWorks! when looking to hire qualified staff, as well as offering this hiring option to its ecosystem of partners. The goal is for women to obtain skills and knowledge through the courses offered, which will allow them to be better prepared for the workforce.

“This work with SheWorks! is an important banner for Cisco, not only as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, but also in developing IT skills which are in such high demand in the digital economy. Our contribution is channeled through the Cisco® Networking Academy, a program to develop IT skills and professional training that has already reached 1,254,000 students in Latin America,” stated Gustavo Sorgente, Managing Director of Cisco CANSAC.

SheWorks! is a digital platform that combines artificial intelligence and algorithms to enhance the search for talent, according to specific skills and professional experience. SheWorks! offers tools for managing remote work, connecting professional women from around the world with work opportunities on the cloud, adapted to their lifestyle and personal responsibilities. This creates project-based contracts for specific periods of time according to demand and with flexible schedules, cloud data storage, and a more productive and profitable search for talent.

“Millions of qualified women leave their jobs because they cannot find the flexibility they need in order to combine their personal and professional lives. At SheWorks! we want to dramatically reduce women’s unemployment by connecting talented women with opportunities for education and remote work as required by the digital economy. Our strategic alliance with an innovation leader such as Cisco Systems will not only allow us to economically empower hundreds of thousands of women, but will also offer Cisco Systems’ clients and partners the chance to quickly and efficiently hire vetted cutting-edge talent, bringing more women into the technology industry,” said Silvina Moschini, CEO and founder of SheWorks!
